Skiing

Skiers can come out to the club shed every Sunday of the year (except when some other club event is on). The aim of Sunday social skiing is to be able to just come down and hang out, do some skiing, get some advice from other skiers and spend some relaxing time on Sunday. When you arrive at the club put your name on the board and the boats work through the list until everyone is done.

Some shots from previous Sundays:

Amanda, Andrew and Richard do some pyramid building.

Tournament Skiing

There are still a few hard-core skiiers in the club that can help you out with slalom technique if that's where your interest lies. The club also has trick and jump skis available to experiment with. Training sessions in 3 event skiing can be arranged if sufficient members are interested.

The club also enters competitors in the AUWC, the Australian Universities Water Ski Championships (also known as IV), held in February of each year. It is a 3 event and wakeboarding competition for all levels, and any full time student is eligible to compete.

Jump Virgins Day 2002 - "Judgement Day"

Going over the ski jump for the first time is an ordeal best shared with others... Virgin jump days provide days at which club members new to ski jumping can all try together. This means that first time jumpers get a lot more encouragement and everyone else there can get it on video tape for later laughs.

In 2002, some members of the club were up at the lake at Nambour ready for action. Frog started off proceedings with a fine display of jumping! After a few mishaps he made it look all too easy! (everyone else was decieved if they thought that...)

Next up was Iain, who whilst humming "Eye of the Tiger" to himself attacked the jump. It may have won several of the battles, but Iain definitely won the war by not even breaking a single bone.

Alice led the charge for the girls and, as always, showed the guys how its done! Emily also jumped, but Britt was getting ready to jump herself at the time and so no one took pictures - sorry for not embarrasing you Emily!

Crash of the day certainly went to Britt, but in true club style, with a fair bit of encouragement from the other girls on the boat, she was back into it!

This is Wendy demonstrating that the jump doesn't even show any mercy for experienced jumpers! After throwing the handbag on the first jump and landing "cleanly" she was also back into it and landed a couple of big jumps.

If you've ever wanted to try the ski jump then Jump virgin days are designed to scare you out of wanting to try (by making you watch other people crash) and then force you to do it anyway!
