Training Times and Venue

The UQ Judo Club training times are:

The Monday and Wednesday sessions are recommended for beginners, as we offer technique training on these nights.
Saturday is a randori session, and is suited to more experienced players.
The dojo is also available on Friday evenings for specialist training and intensive groundwork.

Paul Nelson, 4th dan, is the Club's Head Coach. He is assisted by Phil Brain, 6th dan; Adrian Treloar, 3rd dan; Eric Fuentes, 1st dan and John Cook, 1st dan.

In the spirit of judo, all judo players are welcome to train at the University Club, irrespective of the judo association or body they are affiliated with.

As a University of Queensland Sport club, we are unable to accept members younger than 17 years old.
Unfortunately, we are not able to teach Judo to children. We are a senior club only.
However we do allow established players under 17 to train with us on a case-by-case basis.

All training is in the John Harvey Martial Arts Gym (MAG) upstairs in the UQ Sport ISP on the St Lucia campus of the University of Queensland.
(The ISP is UQ building #25. This link will take you to a zoomable UQ map with the ISP highlighted.
Instructions to get to UQ St Lucia can also be found here.) The MAG has a near Olympic-size mat area.
Hot showers are available at all times.
