2004 is the UQ Judo Club's 50th Birthday!

The Judo Club was the fourth sporting club established at the University of Queensland, way back in 1954. We think it may be the oldest martial arts club still in operation in Queensland.

Given the vagraries of students and the great diversity of activities now available on campus — from flying disks to chocolate loving to lacrosse — it's a remarkable achievement for the club to have survived so long.

To mark the occasion, Dr John Cook has volunteered his professional services as a historian to combine with long-serving members, including Phil Brain (6th dan), to document the club history as a photographic and text record and commit it to print and CD-ROM.

Please keep an eye on this space for developments.

Of course, any old (that is, former) members with photographs and/or memories to add are urged contact the club. We'll be delighted to hear from you.
